Sr Chemical Management Specialist - 1st Shift

About the role

Join our close-knit Chemical Management team in Unity Lab Services, where we provide integrated lab services, support, and supply management tailored to our customers' unique needs. We’re seeking an upbeat Chemical Management Specialist to manage chemical inventory and ensure labs remain stocked, compliant, and running efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Verify chemical inventory levels, locations, and expiration dates by performing bench audits and full-cycle counts using barcode scanners.
• Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming chemical shipments according to compatibility guidelines and DOT regulations.
• Pick, pack, and stage chemical orders for distribution or disposal, maintaining 100% accuracy and adherence to storage protocols.
• Read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to apply accurate handling, storage, and spill-response procedures.
• Identify and help resolve discrepancies in chemical handling, storage conditions, or inventory records.
• Collaborate closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and team members to uphold safety standards, refine workflows, and train new team members.
• May perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2-3 years of customer-service experience in a laboratory, warehouse, or similar environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a safety-first approach.
• Ability to read and understand SDS documentation and DOT labeling requirements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
• Willingness to work in environmental conditions including:
  • Cold Room/Freezers (-22°F / -6°C)
  • Fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold)
  • Laboratory setting with loud noises (equipment/machinery) and rapid flashing lights
  • Exposure to strong odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products)
  • Various outside weather conditions
  • Working with hazardous/toxic materials and at heights
  • Some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
  • Standing for full shift
• Must successfully complete Thermo Fisher’s pre-employment screening (including background check and drug test) and any customer-mandated screening, credentialing, or badging requirements.

Schedule

• 1st Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM start time
• Overtime work may be necessary.

Pay

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.11 to $29.60. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
