Sr. Central Office Equipment (COE) Engineer

ATCO Communications Services, LLC is seeking a telecom Central Office Equipment (COE) Engineer with a strong background in current industry systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Engineer detailed, often complex, technical instructions for new and existing telecom technologies, including Ethernet routers, transport ROADM and packet optical nodes, DSLAM technologies, Metro-Ethernet customer equipment, and FTTH Nokia OLT and NG4 deployments.
• Specify and order equipment, cables, and hardware.
• Coordinate and project manage project-specific installation designs and physical installations.
• Engineer and manage database updates, equipment configurations, card/port assignments, power mapping, cable running lists, floor space and rack placement, and detailed Bill of Material (BOM).
• Interface with Operations and other Implementation organizations to obtain critical pre-engineering information, site-specific data, redlines, and other end-of-job information.
• Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate and up to date for use by Install, Test, Implementation, Operations, Provisioning, Planning, Network Capacity Management, and Audit groups.

Requirements

• 5 or more years’ experience in telecom equipment engineering or installation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, be highly motivated, customer-focused, and possess organizational and leadership skills to manage projects through completion.
• Knowledge of the layout of a Telecom Central Office.
• Understanding of telecom networks and related equipment.
• Knowledge of DC power systems, cable sizing, and equipment requirements.
• Understanding of support structures, cable racking, and fiber troughs.
• Demonstrated skill in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge and ability to utilize CAD systems, Draftsight/COVango.
• Experience with Frontier/Verizon/Ziply Engineering systems such as Infinium, M6, Varasset.
