Responsibilities Sr Capital Project Engineer Location: Lakeville, MN (Hybrid) Travel required: 30-50% Significant travel is a core requirement of this role. This position supports major capital programs across multiple manufacturing facilities and requires extensive on-site presence during active project phases. Travel may exceed typical levels at key stages of execution, including periods where approximately three out of every four weeks are spent at plant locations. Big company opportunity. Big ambitions are welcome here! About The Role As a Sr Capital Project Engineer, you will lead complex, multi-million-dollar capital programs. This role combines engineering expertise, construction management, capital planning, and cross-functional leadership to deliver strategic initiatives safely, on schedule, and within budget. You will oversee multiple concurrent projects and related workstreams that collectively support a common business objective. Working at the corporate level, you will establish project frameworks, engineering standards, and best practices that enable consistent execution across facilities while partnering closely with operations, plant leadership, and external partners. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering and construction professional who has directly managed multiple concurrent, multi-million-dollar capital projects across manufacturing facilities, including construction management, equipment installation, contractor oversight, commissioning, and startup. This individual has successfully led design, construction, equipment installation, startup, and commissioning activities while coordinating multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders across multiple locations. Key Responsibilities Lead capital engineering projects involving facility construction, manufacturing infrastructure, utilities, process equipment installations, line expansions, and plant modernization initiatives.Manage multiple concurrent projects across several manufacturing facilities while aligning execution with business priorities.Own project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, and financial performance from concept through startup and closeout.Develop capital requests, engineering specifications, cost estimates, bid packages, contractor scopes, and appropriation requests.Coordinate internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, OEMs, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution.Lead construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities while minimizing operational disruption.Support the development and implementation of engineering standards, best practices, and project execution processes across the organization.Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements.Identify and implement opportunities to improve capacity, reliability, efficiency, and long-term business performance. Qualifications What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.5+ years of engineering, capital project management, construction management, or manufacturing project experience.Proven success leading large, complex, multi-million-dollar capital projects in manufacturing or industrial environments.Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously across multiple sites.Strong understanding of industrial construction, manufacturing operations, contractor management, and equipment installation.Demonstrated experience managing capital budgets, project financials, and approved capital appropriations.Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, ingredient processing, dairy, agricultural processing, or similar industrial manufacturing environments.Experience leading enterprise-wide capital programs supporting network optimization, capacity expansion, or manufacturing footprint initiatives.Experience managing large construction teams and coordinating multiple project professionals across concurrent projects.Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera (P6/P5), Procore, SAP, or JD Edwards (JDE).PMP certification and/or PE license.Advanced degree in engineering, business, or management.
