You can be based in any city or state in the U.S. This is a traveling, project-based position requiring up to 90% travel. Projects may be located in any state, with an average duration of 8-18 months. The role includes designated per diem, mobilization support (e.g., mileage reimbursement), and one longer weekend every four weeks for additional time at home.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the assigned procurement team to purchase the highest quality equipment and materials at the lowest possible cost, in correct amounts, per specifications and drawings.
• Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and supplier reputation and history.
• Prepare and issue Request for Proposal (RFP) equipment/material packages to qualified suppliers.
• Collaborate with engineering to address all RFP questions from suppliers.
• Receive and evaluate proposals against RFP requirements, including pricing structure, delivery timeframes, and modifications to terms and conditions.
• Negotiate best and final pricing from selected short-listed suppliers.
• Perform due diligence and follow vendor pre-qualification processes to ensure the company does not enter into agreements that conflict with its policies and practices.
• Work closely with field engineering, the material control team, home office procurement department, and accounts payable.
• Secure completed purchasing requisitions with final engineering documents, finalize mutually agreed terms and conditions, and conform all purchase order exhibits/attachments.
• Monitor, support, and administer all issued field purchase orders.
• Manage stakeholder and supplier interactions within company policy boundaries, ensuring adherence to processes and audit compliance.
• Promote a positive work environment, exhibiting cooperation and support for coworkers while maintaining professionalism with internal and external partners.
• Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations. Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on-site, and set a personal example of safe behavior.

Requirements

• Seven to ten years of experience in procurement, preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
• Four-year college degree in a business-related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
• Enthusiastic, willing to learn, and flexible regarding day-to-day responsibilities.
• Skilled in oral and written communication with knowledge of industry best practices.
• Ability to accept extra duties as situations arise and work efficiently under tight deadlines or stress.
• Experience negotiating commercial terms of a purchase order.
• Decisive with strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Professional, thorough, detail-oriented, and adept at time management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
• General knowledge of ERP system software and database utilization.
• Basic knowledge of all areas of procurement, including procurement execution, expediting, and onsite material control.

Pay

$80,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
