About the role
The Sr Buyer role focuses on procurement for construction and facilities projects, managing suppliers, ensuring compliance, and driving cost efficiency to support project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day‑to‑day procurement activities for construction and facilities projects
- Develop and manage strategic suppliers and contractors
- Evaluate procurement processes to identify improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with facilities and project leads to select suppliers and bid projects
- Prepare RFP/RFQ packages and evaluate responses
- Conduct price and cost analysis to support award decisions
- Issue and manage fixed‑price and cost‑type contracts
- Ensure compliance with procurement practices and achieve best value
- Use Costpoint and/or Coupa to create purchase orders and change orders
- Negotiate and execute supplier agreements, including terms, conditions, and NDAs
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct business reviews, and develop improvement plans
- Serve as escalation point for purchasing discrepancies and supplier performance issues
Qualifications
- Minimum of eight years tactical purchasing/supply chain experience
- Understanding of avionics systems and components, including software and hardware
- Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Ability to work independently and cross‑functionally
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
- Experience with cost and price analysis
- Above average knowledge of cost‑type contracting
- U.S. citizenship, national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylum status
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, engineering, or a related field
Preferred Skills
- Experience in construction and facilities purchasing
- Experience with public purchasing procedures
- Federal Acquisition Regulations knowledge or experience
- Experience with Costpoint and Coupa purchasing systems and JIRA Atlassian software
- APICS, CPM, or CSCP certification or equivalent
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred
