Sr. Buyer

Responsibilities

• Cook up and act on activities in a timely manner related to procurement, including quotation, negotiation, regulatory compliance, PO/contract placement, delivery, payment discrepancies, and action non-conformances through the debit memo process.
• Analyze the requirements including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed.
• Solicit and evaluate end-user proposals for the requested commodity.
• Own the data integrity of the applicable commodity in the ERP system.
• Evaluate potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements and communicate to management as appropriate.
• Negotiate the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
• Ensure the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
• Maintain timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.
• Coordinate appropriate methods of shipping in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related field and 7 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively with other employees of organization.
• Knowledge of MS Outlook; MS Excel and MS Word software.
• Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility import/export personnel as required.
• Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen.
• Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…).
