Third Wave Automation is a startup focused on applying modern machine learning to materials handling, delivering autonomous forklift navigation and infrastructure-free pallet handling that adapts to changing environments.
Responsibilities
- Challenge the Status Quo: Audit and evolve organizational KPIs. Propose new metrics for success.
- Deep-Dive Discovery: Perform exploratory analysis to uncover hidden signals in autonomous product data.
- Model Innovation: Design and implement novel data models for predicting future outcomes in customer environments.
- Architecture Influence: Influence the design and documentation of data structures to support evolving organizational needs.
- Engineer the Pipeline: Provide feedback on data ingestion pipelines and validate data sources for performance reporting.
- Partner for Growth: Build strong partnerships with Engineering and Product teams to inform solution requirements and roadmap.
- Empower Customers: Develop tools and reporting for customers to visualize the value provided.
- Create Visualizations: Produce compelling visualizations for both internal and external audiences.
- Scale with an AI-First Mindset: Champion the use of AI tools to automate mundane tasks and generate insights.
Qualifications
- First-Principles Thinking: Focuses on understanding the "why" behind decisions.
- Statistical Fluency: Extensive experience with advanced statistical techniques on custom, non-linear data sets.
- Technical Mastery: Proficient in SQL, Python, or JavaScript, with deep experience in data warehouses and analytics tools.
- Database Architect Mindset: Skilled in database design, data models, and data mining techniques.
- AI-Enabled Scale: Comfortable deploying AI agents and automated workflows to enhance insight generation.
- Master Storyteller: Excellent presentation skills for influencing executives and engineering leads.
Preferred
- Zero-to-One Experience: Proven track record of being the first data hire or building a data function from scratch.
- Domain Expertise in Physical Tech: Prior experience in Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, IoT, or Industrial Automation.
- The "Analytics Engineer" Layer: Deep experience with dbt or similar frameworks for data transformation.
- Product-Led Growth Mindset: Experience in PLG funnel building or data-driven product feature prioritization.
- Advanced Statistical Modeling: Ability to move beyond descriptive statistics to predictive modeling.
- Visual Design Aesthetic: High standards for data visualization, creating intuitive interfaces.
- Cloud Architecture Literacy: Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and data flow from devices to the cloud.

Pay Range
The pay range for this position is $131,000 - $216,000/year + benefits + equity. Base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
