Sr. Business Data Analyst

About the role

Individual contributor delivering the full range of analytics: descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive, in a consultative partnership with assigned business areas. Requires strong business acumen, hands-on data skills, and expertise in leading BI/analytics tools. Some roles may call for specialized business knowledge depending on placement.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to define needs, technical requirements, and how insights should be delivered
• Pull data securely from the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Client’s systems, and approved third-party sources
• Build dashboards, reports, and decision models (Power BI, Tableau), from ad hoc requests to production-grade solutions, working with technical SMEs to operationalize recurring jobs
• Develop forecasts and predictive/prescriptive models; support scenario planning with business leaders; validate and maintain models per governance policy
• Deliver original analysis in response to business trends or stakeholder questions, with clear findings and recommendations
• Peer review other analysts’ work; maintain existing MI solutions for accuracy, access, and documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in a quantitative field (stats, data analytics, finance/economics, CS, MIS, business admin, or similar)
• 3+ years delivering analytics in a business-facing, consultative role
• 3+ years across the full analytics spectrum (descriptive through prescriptive)
• Specialized business experience may be required depending on placement

Skills

• Expert-level SQL and database/data management practices; able to source and work with data independently
• Power BI or Tableau (Creator/Power User level), with ability to pick up the other
• Skilled at building and validating data-driven decision models
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Jira
• Strong consultative skills, able to translate data into decisions and evaluate outcomes
• Excellent communication paired with solid industry/business knowledge
