Sr. Business Analyst, Annuity Retail IQ
Alternate work locations: Fort Wayne, IN; Greensboro, NC; Hartford, CT. Hybrid schedule: 3 days per week in a Lincoln office.
About the role
We are seeking a Sr. Business Analyst to support agile development within the Annuity Retail IQ Value Stream in the Retail Business Technology Solutions organization. Fort Wayne, IN is the preferred location. In this role, you will define and prioritize a product backlog focused on developing, supporting, and improving AnnuityIQ, with an emphasis on data quality, gaps, and governance. You will collaborate closely with product management, AnnuityIQ users, and stakeholders to understand customer and business needs, translating those into actionable solutions for agile software engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Product Owner to prioritize, develop, and accept user stories to enhance the AnnuityIQ data repository, external feeds, and publications.
- Partner with Product Managers and business stakeholders to understand customer and business needs and translate them into requirements/user stories.
- Write stories and requirements for Agile POD/Build Team(s) and AnnuityIQ Data Repository enhancement work.
- Provide subject matter expertise to clarify development requirements.
- Submit User Acceptance Criteria and complete User Acceptance Testing.
- Drive adoption and business intelligence for the Annuity Data Solution.
- Lead the implementation and integration of improvements.
- Continuously prioritize the product backlog to ensure the Agile software development team focuses on the highest value work.
- Coordinate with other Product Owners and team members to manage dependencies across teams.
- Survey upstream data providers and downstream data customers to understand how Annuity data is used.
- Assist in developing data processes and reconciliation reports that are efficient, tractable, and instill confidence in the integrity of results for downstream stakeholders and auditors.
- Perform business analyst and QA support as needed.
- Maintain the data dictionary and follow established data governance policies.
- Proactively identify and recommend process improvements that significantly reduce workload while maintaining or improving quality.
Requirements
- 4-year/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s).
- 5–7+ years of experience in business analysis that directly aligns with the responsibilities of this position.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and influence at all levels of management.
- Ability to evaluate trends in data or information and analyze complex information to assess implications.
- Strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g., senior management, peers, and colleagues) and the ability to develop creative, collaborative approaches.
- Ability to find common ground and gain collaboration among senior/executive management, colleagues, and peers without directing or commanding.
- Strong project management leadership skills, including coordinating and balancing multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment under pressure.
- Ability to identify and recommend process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Annuity administrative platforms or similar applications in the insurance industry.
- Experience operating within an Agile framework.
- Experience with JIRA or similar workflow management tools.
- Experience with SQL across various platforms.
- Experience supporting business applications in a cloud environment.
- Experience with data-driven business applications such as APIs, ETL, Query/Reporting, etc.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $96,900 - $176,200, with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency, and qualifications. The base pay is one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package, which may also include eligibility for the Annual Incentive Program (discretionary, based on company, business unit, and individual performance), long-term incentives, sales incentives, and standard benefits.
