Sr. Bridge Design Project Manager

About the role
This is an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, highly-organized civil design engineering professional with project management experience to manage design, reporting, production plans, and estimates on state and municipal projects. The position includes opportunities for personal and professional development and growth in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative consulting firm.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain lasting relationships with key transportation clients and industry partners
- Lead the preliminary and final design of bridge structures
- Provide engineering design services on traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build bridge projects
- Play a key role in the growth of AI’s local bridge/structural team and establishment of a robust bridge/structures design practice
- Identify new project opportunities and lead the development of technical proposals
- Manage a team of structural engineers and serve as a mentor to early career professionals
- Provide QA of projects through understanding of the project goals and the client’s expectation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (MSCE preferred)
- P.E. License in CT and NY (preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of technical and project management experience in the design of transportation structures and facilities in the Northeast
- Understanding of AASHTO, AREMA, and other national and local structural design codes and standards
- Significant experience in the design and management of bridge/structure projects for regional transportation clients
Skills & Abilities
- Self-starter with the ability to form project teams and manage multiple and concurrent projects/assignments
- Strong technical and project management skills with ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex bridge/structures design projects
- Solid background in every facet of bridge projects from condition inspection to concept development, preliminary and final design phases, and construction support services
- Proficient in structural analysis and modeling as well as development of final drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of a variety of project delivery methods and direct experience in Design-Build projects
- Ability and willingness to travel to work sites (occasional to moderate travel may be required)
- Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiations, and decision-making skills
