About the role
Super Micro Computer, Inc. is seeking a talented Sr. Firmware Engineer to develop world-class firmware that maximizes the performance of in-house server hardware. This role involves creating firmware for networking products, prototyping concepts, and exploring new technologies. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design robust networking solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, test, deliver, and document firmware for server systems.
- Maintain BMC, CMM, and SAS Expander Firmware.
- Author firmware specifications, develop firmware code, and debug/troubleshoot issues.
- Collaborate closely with hardware design team members.
- Address all software and firmware-related issues during planning, development, and validation stages.
Qualifications
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in firmware development.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Java.
- Experience with Linux OS and source code control systems.
- Working knowledge of IPMI firmware vendors (e.g., AMI or Aten) and code structure.
- Ability to design and develop for specific IPMI firmware requirements.
- Good knowledge of enclosure management protocols and standards.
- Excellent system-level debugging skills.
- In-depth understanding of EFI BIOS firmware is a plus.
- Linux and Windows device driver development experience is a plus.
Pay
Salary range: $140,000 – $170,000. The final salary will depend on factors such as location, level, education, training, skills, and experience. Eligible candidates may also participate in bonus and equity award programs.
