Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of benefits plans, policies and practices, tools and training based on organizational objectives and industry best practice
  • Responsible for employee benefits administration (communication to associates, claims and processing resolution, compliance, internal audit adherence and compilation)
  • Identify organizational benefits needs and assist in the development and implementation strategies and plans to meet those needs
  • Ensure adequate controls, compliance reviews, and audits are in place and completed successfully for benefits plan design and program management
  • Manage FMLA and state leave of absence to ensure compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable total rewards structure
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in benefits administration
  • Ensure the organization’s plans are following the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA and ERISA
  • Serve as the technical lead for the HR System (ADP Workforce Now)
  • Initiate benefit annual Open Enrollment periods and conduct routine system testing, as needed
  • Ensure full usage of current HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now), creating and providing meaningful regular and ad hoc reports as requested
  • Review, recommend, and implement system enhancements to increase overall efficiency
  • Trained as the back-up to the Payroll Administrator
  • Reviews/audits payroll to ensure appropriate approvals and timely processing of changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR or related discipline
  • Minimum of five years of benefit plan administration and oversight (medical, dental, life/AD&D, disability, retirement plan/401K, etc.)
  • Experience in managing benefit plan vendors and vendor changes is beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to effectively communicate with all levels within the company
  • Ability to provide strategic direction and guidance regarding benefits plan design and implementation as well as operating as a tactical benefits administrator
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing HRIS systems (particularly ADP Workforce Now) for analysis and reporting
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, ERISA, and COBRA requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • CEBS, PHR or SPHR certification preferred
