About the role

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. We are seeking a Sr. Avionics Test Engineer to join our team, which designs, tests, and delivers avionics subsystems for the satellite. The ideal candidate will have superb technical capabilities and a demonstrated ability to get things done quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements for test methods used in design verification and qualification test campaigns.
  • Develop test methods and automated test station hardware for engineering labs and production test environments.
  • Develop and execute design verification test and qualification plans on complex avionics used for space vehicles.
  • Influence product design for manufacturing and test efficiency (DFM, DFT).
  • Provide training and improve work instructions for liaison engineers to reduce the need for design engineering support on repeat issues.
  • Design, maintain, and update test station documentation, including troubleshooting guides and work instructions.
  • Improve test stability, reduce test time, and guarantee the quality of measurement data.
  • Work with quality and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure high-quality space flight hardware.
  • Execute test rack commissioning for new production test stations or upgrades to existing stations due to new design revisions.
  • Work with Liaison Engineers to troubleshoot and repair test setups.
  • Develop reporting tools on manufacturing KPIs.

Qualifications

The basic qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, and 7+ years of hardware design and validation experience. The candidate should also have experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware, planning and executing test campaigns, and defining test requirements for complex electronic systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience in technical program management.
  • Experience with RF measurement equipment, including power meters, spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, network analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience in Space Vehicle/Satellite Operations, Space Communications, or a related industry.
  • Experience in hardware test framework software development.

Benefits

Amazon offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. The base salary range for this position is $159,200.00 - $215,300.00 USD annually, and the package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
