Sr. Automation Engineer Robotics Software
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week from a home office within reasonable commuting distance of Ankeny, IA. Up to 35% US and international travel required.
About the role
Build and configure robotics automation applications, investigate mechanical failures and unexpected maintenance problems, install, calibrate, operate, and maintain robots. Develop, test, maintain, and deploy robotics solutions for machine control, hardware automation, computer vision, and machine learning. Conduct research on robotic technology to create new robotic systems and system capabilities. Troubleshoot and debug robotics software, develop technical documentation for application design, and mentor and train junior robotics engineers.
Responsibilities
- Develop software to communicate with PLC-controlled machines and integrate machine hardware using OPC UA and Modbus.
- Design and develop Python-based applications to integrate robotics and automation equipment with backend services and databases.
- Develop multi-threading for machine automation and data management.
- Design and develop HMI applications for machine control and monitoring automation systems using JavaScript, Vue, and FastAPI.
- Deploy, test, and troubleshoot robotics and automation software.
- Implement monitoring and logging for automation and robotics systems.
- Collaborate with engineers to evaluate requirements for robotics hardware, specify and procure hardware, and oversee component integration and validation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Informatics, Computer Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a closely-related quantitative field.
- 3 years of experience in the following:
- Developing software to communicate with PLC-controlled machines and integrate machine hardware using OPC UA and Modbus.
- Designing and developing Python-based applications to integrate robotics and automation equipment with backend services and databases.
- Developing multi-threading for machine automation and data management.
- Designing and developing HMI applications for machine control and monitoring automation systems using JavaScript, Vue, and FastAPI.
- Deploying, testing, and troubleshooting robotics and automation software.
- Implementing monitoring and logging for automation and robotics systems.
- Collaborating with engineers to evaluate requirements for robotics hardware, specify and procure hardware, and oversee component integration and validation.
Pay
Salary range: $115,000.00 to $144,000.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. The offered salary may vary within this range based on location, market data, skills, experience, degrees, certifications, and other relevant factors.
