About the role
This role supports the Global Internal Audit Plan with a focus on operational and business audits. You will execute audit assignments, evaluate internal controls, communicate findings to stakeholders, and contribute to audit strategy and risk assessments. The position requires strong collaboration, timely delivery of audit work, and staying current on industry and business changes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct internal audit activities across assigned areas.
- Draft audit issues and reports for management review.
- Track and validate closure of audit issues.
- Communicate audit findings clearly to stakeholders, including senior management.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, business units, and support teams.
- Complete assigned work, including ad hoc projects, within deadlines.
- Document audit work concisely and in accordance with quality standards.
- Stay updated on industry changes and their impact on risk assessments.
- Support the implementation of internal audit strategies and methodologies.
- Lead and manage multiple audit projects simultaneously, ensuring effective planning, prioritization, and delivery.
- Design and execute audit test programs, including developing procedures based on risk assessments.
- Apply advanced critical thinking to identify risks, assess control effectiveness, and drive audit insights.
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls using established methodologies.
- Support audit planning and scoping, including research and walkthroughs with stakeholders.
- Apply data analysis techniques in audit execution.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in payments, fintech, or digital financial services (preferred).
- Big 4 or financial services internal audit experience (preferred).
- CPA or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification (preferred).
- Experience with audit tools such as AuditBoard or similar systems (preferred).
Pay
The base pay for this role depends on location and experience. The expected annual pay ranges by location are:
- Chicago, Illinois: $89,000.00 – $127,600.00
- Austin, Texas: $89,000.00 – $127,600.00
- Scottsdale, Arizona: $84,500.00 – $121,000.00
- Omaha, Nebraska: $84,500.00 – $121,000.00
Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
Schedule
For the majority of employees, PayPal’s balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.
