About the role
L3Harris is seeking a Senior Associate, Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations Space Propulsion and Power Systems (SP&PS) team in Canoga Park, CA. This position will manage processes in accordance with the Lean methodology, develop and implement manufacturing and assembly processes improvements, perform risk assessments, and support design change reviews.
Responsibilities
- Manage processes in accordance with the Lean methodology which includes process certification, process improvement methods (e.g. Kaizen, 3P, VSM, etc.) and other lean tools.
- Prepare, develop, and defend to management key strategic manufacturing plans, risk assessments and proposals that target customer and business goals.
- Differentiate between suppliers based on their technical process (Repeatability, Reliability) and business (Reliability, Rates, CSP, ISO compliant) capability.
- Develop rework dispositions and work instructions for a wide variety of components, assemblies, and materials.
- Utilize engineering and business software (Creo CAD, Windchill PLM, Oracle MRP & MES, MS Office applications, and/or other CAD/virtual manufacturing tools/software) to monitor hardware design configuration updates, specification updates, and procedure updates, then incorporate the necessary changes to manufacturing support items (MBOMs, work instructions, CNC programs, special tooling, etc.) to maintain alignment between engineering and manufacturing configurations and compliance with all command media.
- Support design change reviews.
- Determine complex design GD&T for various assembly and measuring methods that meet specifications, tooling and equipment requirements.
- Verify sealing surfaces and that assemblies meet drawing requirements.
- Perform risk assessments to ensure risks to personnel and environment are eliminated and risk to hardware and facility are accurately assessed and communicated to management.
- A small amount of travel may be required depending on actual assignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Pressure Test experience preferred.
