About the role

The Sr. Associate Manager, Finance will oversee and analyze the financial performance of New York Racing Association, develop financial models, and collaborate with business leaders to identify new revenue opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the enterprise P&L and cash forecast throughout the year, reviewing significant variances.
  • Aid in preparing month and quarter end reporting materials for the executive team and board.
  • Develop the annual operating budget and build multi-year P&L and cash budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial reporting and material for external updates.
  • Manage and update P&L views in various formats.
  • Own and manage the purse cushion forecast for the racing department.
  • Collaborate with functional department heads to analyze revenue-generating and cost-cutting initiatives.
  • Analyze daily wagering data and prepare a daily handle report for internal distribution.
  • Prepare monthly and other periodic reports analyzing wagering activity and revenues, handle and meet deadlines.
  • Interpret data and trends related to handle revenue, sponsorships, ticketing, concession, and other on-track racing-related revenue.
  • Manage a daily revenue report during the Saratoga meet, coordinating with multiple department heads for necessary data.
  • Support the finance team on treasury or tax needs, such as processing banking transactions or completing estimated or statutory tax payments.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Thoroughbred horse-racing knowledge is highly preferred.
  • General understanding of finance and/or FP&A fundamentals.
  • Analytical and creative mind when interpreting data and trends.
  • Ability to complete tasks within set deadlines.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft suite of products.
  • SAP and Payroll/Benefit related software knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to operate independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred.

Benefits

Hybrid work schedule with 2 days remote, FLSA Exempt, competitive salary range of $90,000 - $105,000 per year.

$90,000 - $105,000 per year
