About the role

The Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Faculty Success reports directly to the Dean and oversees the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, such as our Rural Healthcare, Clinician Retention Initiatives, and building projects. This individual works with the College leadership and staff to promote the College and serves as a liaison to various College stakeholders, including alumni, donors, the legislature, and College Advisory Board. In addition, this individual provides leadership and oversight on issues and initiatives related to Faculty Affairs, including hiring; career development (e.g., onboarding, advancement, promotion, and/or tenure); conflict management; and other faculty-centered issues.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate.
  • A PhD and/or a DVM or equivalent, five years of academic administrative experience.

Qualifications

  • Academic achievement commensurate with appointment to the rank of professor in one of the College’s departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A background in strategic planning, performance evaluation, and policy development.
  • A background in academic leadership and administration, including management of faculty, staff, a complex budget, and facilities.
  • A record of success in career development of faculty, and staff.

Skills

  • Clear and convincing evidence of high levels of academic and academic administrative attainment, as appropriate for the position’s responsibilities and duties.
