About the role
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a motivated Continuous Improvement Associate to join our Operations Excellence team. This role supports the implementation and sustainment of Lean methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and business operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead or facilitate process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies.
- Support Kaizen events, rapid improvement workshops, and value stream mapping activities.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma tools (5S, DMAIC, A3 or problem solving, root cause analysis, etc.) to identify and eliminate waste.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of standard work and visual management systems.
- Aid in the execution of continuous improvement projects from initiation through sustainment.
- Partner with operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to drive process improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional improvement teams and working sessions.
- Communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support change management activities to ensure successful adoption of improvements.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics dashboards.
- Track and report on improvement project progress, benefits realization, and cost savings.
- Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and process capability assessments.
- Document current and future state processes using process mapping tools.
- Prepare presentations and reports for management review.
- Stay current with industry best practices in Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence.
- Participate in continuous improvement community of practice activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with data analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Preferred: Experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments; experience in manufacturing operations, production control, or quality engineering; hands-on experience with Kaizen events or rapid improvement workshops; experience with value stream mapping and process flow analysis; familiarity with Theory of Constraints, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or other improvement methodologies; strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Teams); excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively in cross-functional team environments; strong organizational and project management capabilities; self-motivated with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities; demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority; knowledge of Six Sigma principles and tools.
