About the role
The Trulaske College of Business has two immediate openings for Senior Academic Advisors to guide students interested in business programs. Advisors will address degree requirements, major selection, probationary concerns, course registration, and other academic issues.
Responsibilities
Position 1
- Advise undergraduate business students on degree requirements, graduation checks, and career preparation.
- Monitor progress for upper-level admission and academic standing.
- Provide academic advising, schedule planning, and support for students on probation or facing academic actions.
- Maintain regular communication with advisees, evaluate transcripts, and make referrals to campus resources.
- Lead transitional advising, peer advising, and student success initiatives.
- Direct all aspects of the Academic Peer Advising Program, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and supervision of Peer Advisors.
- Develop and assess peer advising services to ensure high-quality student support.
- Coordinate student success initiatives, including targeted outreach and programming for high-risk students (Advising Group 4) and "Murky Middle" students.
- Serve as the College of Business liaison for Tiger Pathways, coordinating communication, programming, and referrals with campus partners.
- Lead outreach efforts for non-enrolled students to improve retention and re-enrollment, including participation in the Recruit Back/Finish Line initiative.
- Assess program effectiveness using student success and retention data, recommending improvements for peer advising and student success initiatives.
- Manage the Academic Actions program, including reviews for students on dismissal or probation, communications regarding academic standing, and coordination with the University Registrar’s Office.
- Oversee the academic recovery program for students on academic probation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Advising.
Position 2
- Provide comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate business students, including degree planning, academic policies, and student success.
- Track progress toward upper-level admission and review graduation requirements.
- Advise on course selection, registration, and career preparation.
- Evaluate transfer and test credit, maintain communication with advisees, and make referrals to campus resources.
- Support students experiencing academic challenges and provide transitional advising.
- Lead the administration of College of Business certificate and minor programs, including processing declarations, graduation clearance, and managing program email inboxes.
- Serve as the primary contact for students, faculty, advisors, and staff regarding certificate and minor requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate with academic departments and campus partners to ensure accurate and efficient program administration.
- Monitor enrollment, maintain program records, and recommend process improvements.
- Lead the development and maintenance of advising communications, including the Undergraduate Advising Office website, handbooks, forms, guides, and other resources.
- Ensure advising materials reflect current university and college policies and support student success initiatives.
- Supervise work-study students, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and overseeing daily responsibilities.
- Support front-line office operations and customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Advising.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least 2 years of relevant experience, is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in higher education, preferably in academic advising or student affairs.
- Knowledge of academic policies and student success initiatives.
Pay
Salary Range: $45,968.00 - $59,374.00 per year
Schedule
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
