SQL Database Administrator

Robert Half is currently looking for a SQL DBA to support and optimize a highly available hosted infrastructure environment for our client in the Milwaukee area. This person will be responsible for the administration, performance, security, and reliability of Microsoft SQL Server platforms that support both internal business systems and customer-facing applications. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, automation, performance tuning, and ensuring critical database environments remain stable and secure. This position is open to remote employees located within Wisconsin. Candidates outside of Wisconsin are not eligible for remote consideration. What You'll Be DoingAdminister SQL Server environments across production, development, and test systemsInstall, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instancesMonitor database performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimizationPerform routine maintenance including indexing, integrity checks, and capacity planningDesign and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processesSupport high-availability and business continuity initiativesManage database security, permissions, and access controlsTroubleshoot database, application, and infrastructure-related issuesDevelop automation and operational efficiencies using PowerShell, T-SQL, or similar scripting toolsPartner with infrastructure and application teams to support business-critical systemsCreate and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational proceduresParticipate in an on-call rotation supporting production environments 3+ years of SQL Server administration experience in an enterprise, hosting, cloud, or managed services environmentStrong understanding of SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, and troubleshootingExperience with backup and recovery strategies, disaster recovery planning, and high-availability technologiesHands-on experience with performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and resource managementWorking knowledge of Windows Server environmentsExperience with PowerShell, T-SQL, or other automation and scripting toolsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issuesExcellent communication and documentation skillsNice to HaveExperience supporting hosted, private cloud, or managed infrastructure environmentsExposure to Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud database technologiesExperience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platformsFamiliarity with replication, clustering, and enterprise backup solutionsExperience supporting ERP systems or other SQL-driven business applicationsUnderstanding of IT service management processes and best practices Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.® Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
