About the role

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, serving as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Performs all processing duties at an advanced level including decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, and case cart assembly.
• Fulfills all processing and documentation requirements to ensure the efficient distribution of high quality sterile products that meet customer expectations.
• Maintains advanced knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, utilization, and sterile processing.
• Works in collaboration with peri-operative services to provide appropriate surgical instrumentation.
• May function as the Shift Lead in his or her absence.
• May run lean Huddles.

Requirements

• 2+ years of SPS experience.
• Current "Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification" from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Inc. (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM required.
• 3+ years of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Must obtain a minimum of 10 CEU’s (continuous education units) per year.
