About the Role

Kroger is offering a 12-week Spring Internship Program for current college students interested in gaining hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world experience in their field of choice. This immersive experience runs from January 11 to April 23, 2027, and provides competitive pay, professional development opportunities, exposure to senior leaders, and collaboration with students nationwide.

Applicants must have work authorization in the U.S. that does not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned projects or assist project managers under the guidance of senior project managers, assistant construction managers, and/or construction managers.
  • Role model and demonstrate Kroger’s core values: respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
  • Assist project managers with essential functions, including:
    • Completion of pre-remodel checklists and “as-built” fixture/refrigeration drawings.
    • Execution of the contractor bid process.
    • Weekly tasks and job meetings during capital projects.
    • Timely preparation and execution of equipment orders.
    • Tracking equipment orders and scheduling deliveries in accordance with the construction schedule.
    • Management of store fixture installation.
    • Project closeout (e.g., punch lists, as-builts, final invoicing, filing).
  • Inspect capital projects for compliance with specifications and quality control.
  • Coordinate reviews of refrigeration and electrical/mechanical plans with technician staff.
  • Review proposed change orders for validity and architecture plans for completeness and compliance with standards.
  • Provide support to other Facility Engineering personnel as requested.
  • Participate in department meetings and “huddles.”
  • Complete estimates and manage minor capital projects.
  • Complete specific assignments required by the co-op/intern program of your college.
  • Prepare and present a cumulative project summarizing internship accomplishments to the executive team or appropriate managers.
  • Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Construction Management or Engineering at an accredited college or university, with a preferred GPA of 3.0.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to take initiative on independent work.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in groups or independently.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to preserve confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information and apply it to business needs.
  • Commitment to providing customer service.
  • Prior experience in a construction environment is desired.
