FanDuel is seeking a US Sports Trader to join our Trading Team in Jersey City, NJ (hybrid). This role focuses on shaping odds and betting markets for NBA, MLB, NCAAF, NCAAB, and WNBA, with assignments based on seasonality. No prior trading or gambling experience is required.

About the role

This hybrid position requires in-office presence in Jersey City, NJ, with core trading tasks and hands-on training conducted on-site. The office features an open, hot-desk environment with multiple monitors, TVs, and constant activity. The role includes regular late shifts (typically 2:30pm–10:30pm ET) and weekend work, particularly for live betting support.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to set and manage prices for football, basketball, and baseball games, player stats, and futures markets—from pre-game to live in-play odds—using in-house tools and models.
  • Monitor real-time news, stats, and industry pricing to guide trading decisions.
  • Trade live games in real time, making quick pricing adjustments based on game flow, key events, and customer behavior.
  • Collaborate with other Traders and cross-functional teams within the Risk & Trading department or across FanDuel’s business in a cooperative environment.
  • Contribute to brainstorming new products or improvements to enhance the customer experience, considering fan engagement.

You’ll work alongside experienced Traders who will support your development, helping you build expertise to price markets independently, manage risk, and shape the sports betting experience.

Requirements

  • A deep passion for NBA, MLB, NCAAF, NCAAB, or WNBA (knowledge of multiple leagues is a plus).
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; recent or soon-to-be graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong comfort with numbers, odds, probability, and quick mental math, including understanding how odds relate to probability and betting markets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with curiosity to research and stay ahead of news and trends.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure while responding to rapidly changing information.
  • Proficiency with Excel; experience with AI tooling (SQL, Python, or R) is a bonus but not required.
  • Ability to work outside typical business hours, including nights and weekends (Traders work roughly 50-70 weekend shifts per year, never exceeding 5 days per week).
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. and obtain a DGE license for trading activities.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health plans (some as low as $0 per paycheck), including fertility and family planning, mental health support, and fitness benefits.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO and sick leave), annual bonus, and long-term incentive opportunities based on performance.
  • 401k with up to a 5% match, commuter benefits, and pet insurance.
  • 14 paid company holidays.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $94,000 USD, dependent on relevant experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and stock program participation.
