Sports Performance Intern - Summer 2026
Job Summary
Exos is seeking high performing individuals to participate in their 12-16 week internship program. The internship is onsite at their Performance Center in Maryland Heights, MO and requires a minimum of 20 hours per week. Interns will gain knowledge and experience working in a strength & conditioning environment.
As a Sports Performance Intern
- Learn from best-in-class human performance professionals on how to develop and refine your coaching skills.
- Shadow, observe, and participate in the programming and services offered to athletes ranging from youth to professional.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the Exos Methodology through weekly educational sessions including lectures, presentations, and practicums.
- Gain practical training on developing linear and multi-directional movement skills, applications, and program designs.
- Engage with the NFL Combine preparation program in select locations (spring semester only).
- Earn the Exos Performance Specialist Certification (XPS).
- Receive additional exposure to sports-specific training methods, performance nutrition, physical therapy, and sport science for client evaluations.
As a Performance Specialist Intern
- Self-paced learning modules.
Internship Requirements
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program specializing in sport science, kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise science, etc.
- Must be in a program accepting course credit in exchange for an internship experience, as this is an unpaid internship.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (Students who are not currently certified may seek certification during the application process).
- Passionate about working with the active/athletic population.
- Eligible for work in the USA.
Internship Logistics
- Find, secure, and fund your own housing for the duration of the internship.
- Book and fund your travel and relocating to the location of your internship prior to the start date.
- Fund all food and transportation costs for the duration of your internship.
- Confirm course credit through your school advisor.
