Position Summary

The Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Performance – Olympic Sports position will manage and administer all aspects of the Sports Performance Program within University, ACC and NCAA rules and regulations. Responsibilities to include but not limited to practice/competition activities, player/skill development, recruiting, directing and implementing plans for daily practices and competitions, organizing and administering clinics, etc., mentoring student-athletes, fund-raising efforts and overall administrative tasks within the operation of the program. Must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified students. Promote academic progress of student-athletes on and the off-field. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire through athletics.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Strong interpersonal communications skills;
  • Computer skills;
  • Demonstrated integrity, leadership, and a thorough knowledge of the sport are required;
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations essential;
  • Must possess a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, and counsel;
  • CPR/First Aid certified – CSCS (from NSCA) and/or CSCCa.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

  • Strongly prefer a Master’s degree with 5-7 years of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities;
  • Experience managing sports performance staff and facilities;
  • Previous strength and condition coaching experience with collegiate student-athletes preferably in an NCAA Division I program;
  • Successful intercollegiate coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level, and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred;
  • Knowledge for establishing policies and procedures for day to day operations is preferred.
