Sports Equip Attendant

About the role

This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. UNM‑Gallup’s Physical Education Complex provides sports and recreation activities to members of the UNM‑Gallup campus community through scheduled P.E. courses, open recreation hours, intramurals and planned student activities. The facility includes an indoor basketball court, weight and cardio rooms, two outdoor fitness trails with various stations, and showers and locker rooms for patrons.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service
• Issuing sports and/or recreational equipment
• Maintaining inventory for new and used athletic supplies and equipment
• Performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
• Assisting with routine operations and facility reservations
• Ensuring proper care in use of equipment
• Preparing facility for scheduled intramurals or other student activities
• Cleaning and maintaining work areas and equipment
• Assisting with student events and activities as necessary

Requirements

American Red Cross First Aid, CPR & AED Certification required within 30 days of employment.

Conditions of employment: all regular, non‑temporary positions in this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement; employees working in patient care or clinical areas must comply with the University’s influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum qualifications: high school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous face‑to‑face customer service experience
• At least 6 months previous experience working at a fitness/recreational facility or knowledge of fitness and athletic equipment and sports specifications
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members (shown via prior job experience)
• Demonstrated ability to multi‑task (shown via prior job experience)

Campus: Gallup; Department: Gallup Branch; Employment Type: Staff; Staff Type: Regular – Full‑Time; Status: Non‑Exempt.

Pay: Hourly range $15.00 – $19.30.
