Spiritual Support Coordinator

Job Description Summary

We provide direct pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, family members/significant others, and staff throughout the hospital. This includes developing a 'parish' within the hospital, leading invocations at operating unit functions, crisis intervention, and representing OhioHealth Mission & Ministry.

Responsibilities And Duties

• 60% - Provides ongoing, "hands-on" ministry to patients, families and staff. Includes, but is not limited to: spiritual care, prayer, sacramental ministry, responding to codes.

• 20% - Serves as a contact person or liaison between local clergy, patients, families and staff. Assists in responding to requests for workshops, lectures, etc. from hospital/church/community. Shares responsibilities for providing a variety of worship services as appropriate. Assists coordinator of hospital volunteers in scheduling and overseeing ministry of volunteer chaplains.

• 10% - Shares rotation of all "on-call" responsibilities as needed.

• 10% - Participates as a member of interdisciplinary teams and serves on select hospital committees.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Additional Job Description

• Knowledge of pastoral care skills, especially as practiced within the hospital setting and in crisis situations.

• Three years ministry experience.

• Comfortable in providing inclusive ministry in a broadly ecumenical and interfaith setting.
