Responsibilities

• Carry out duties and activities of the spiritual care program in compliance with hospital philosophy and policies.
• Focus on the spiritual needs of patients, families, caregivers, staff, and volunteers.
• Provide on-call support on weekends and in the absence of the hospital chaplain.
• Facilitate visits by clergy, religious, and lay representatives from recognized religious bodies for persons of their faith group as requested.
• Coordinate specialized religious needs of patients as liaison with community clergy.
• Participate in regularly scheduled planning and management meetings with the Spiritual Care Team.
• Serve as an official participant of the Interdisciplinary Health Care Team of the hospital.
• Contribute to a diverse Main Line Health family, bringing distinctive talents to provide superior service and care.

Requirements

• Minimum six months experience in a hospital environment – preferably as a Spiritual Care Provider.
• Master’s Degree in Theological Studies preferred.
• One (1) Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at an accredited CPE center, completed or in process.
• Ecclesiastical endorsement for pastoral ministry from your faith group.

Schedule

Weekend (Friday and/or Saturday) call hours are 6:00 pm – 9:00 am (3 nights per month), with occasional weeknight (6:00 pm – 7:00 am) coverage and day shift work as available. Pager coverage from offsite to come onsite when needed – must live within 30 minutes of Paoli Hospital.
