This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Responsibilities

  • Seal, fillet and fay, cap seal, brush coat, etc. for major assemblies, sub-assemblies, precision bench, and integral fuel cell.
  • Apply scotch cast, leveling compound, aerodynamic seal, and perform pressure testing, working from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures.
  • Work with blueprints, changes, specifications, work orders, etc., sealing to quality requirements.
  • Complete required data gathering transactions to facilitate all sealer progression.
  • Perform any and all required pickup, rework, fabrication, change incorporation, functional testing, or checks during or after final seal and/or seal progression.
  • Use measuring instruments as required to accomplish work assignments.
  • Report and/or investigate job handicaps such as errors, assembly procedures, tools, sequences, etc.
  • Support the continuous flow of product within the manufacturing process by training, coaching, and assisting employees of all classification levels.
  • Document any discrepancies according to specification, process, and procedure.
  • Temporarily attach parts and/or assemblies, install collars, and other hardware not related to drilling or countersinking.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to work any shift.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship).
  • Ability to work on concrete floors, uneven surfaces, and in confined spaces, as well as walk on open floor beams, climb on stairs/scaffolding, crawl/kneel in workstation, and lift/move parts and/or tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Desired skills and experience include:

  • Experience working with blueprints, changes, specifications, and work orders.
  • Ability to perform data gathering transactions for sealer progression.
  • Experience with pickup, rework, fabrication, change incorporation, functional testing, or checks during seal progression.
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments.
  • Experience in reporting and investigating job-related issues.
  • Ability to train, coach, and assist employees of all classification levels.
  • Experience documenting discrepancies according to specifications and procedures.

Pay

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $25.09/hour, with potential to earn up to $43.13/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

This is a union-represented position.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required.
