Spiral Technician

Location: Dalton, GA | Shift: 3rd shift | Pay: $21.53/hr

About the role

Sonoco, a world leader in global packaging solutions with operations in over 34 countries, is seeking a Spiral Technician for our Dalton, GA plant. This role supports our tube and core division, focusing on production in a fast-paced environment. You will work under the shift supervisor, ensuring quick and safe operations while maintaining excellent attendance to support team success.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support the carpet yarn line operator and crew members.
• Learn and perform all required machine and support equipment setups.
• Operate, set up, and troubleshoot equipment, including carpet yarn tube cutters.
• Perform machine preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment.
• Operate machines at a proficiency level as a substitute operator.
• Interpret and understand Oracle production orders; enter required data.
• Report and track production information, including scrap, machine efficiency, downtime, and paper usage.
• Assist crew members with setups, packaging, quality requirements, and production specifications.
• Document and maintain machine logs; report quality measurements and metrics.
• Understand buildups, tube constructions, and cutter setup procedures.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and communicate them to management.

• Proven record of success in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with various teams and spot defects in the packing line.
• Strong hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and housekeeping skills.
• Strong safety commitment and knowledge of all LOTO (Lockout-Tagout) requirements.
• Ability to work flexible hours and meet customer requirements with a sense of urgency.
• Customer-focused with a positive attitude and strong leadership skills.
• Initiative to understand and meet production goals.
