About the Role

Operate spiral mill equipment safely and efficiently to meet production and quality targets while minimizing scrap, defects, and downtime. Follow Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and operating procedures, perform inspections, basic troubleshooting, and maintain accurate production records and housekeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Follow supervisor instructions to prepare wind tower sections for fabrication operations, set up, and operate the sub-arc welder.
  • Perform welding, grinding, and repairing of wind tower sections before presenting them to Quality Inspectors; repair all seaming defects as directed.
  • Work primarily independently using provided tools and welding equipment; maintain and be accountable for tools and equipment.
  • Ensure timely and efficient work to deliver a quality product without manufacturing defects.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by leadership and management.
  • Actively participate in department safety and demonstrate excellent safety practices in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures and departmental work instructions.
  • Contribute to general improvements in the quality of key activities within the department.
  • Comply with all Keystone Tower Systems Company and HSE procedures and policies.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of welding properties for a variety of metals and alloys.
  • Thorough understanding of welding procedures and practices, including the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and work with standard U.S. and Metric measurements.
  • Ability to identify and communicate production or maintenance problems to departmental supervision.
  • A highly motivated, passionate approach to craft, possessing integrity and drive to excel and deliver exceptional results in a team-oriented production environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an AWS welder qualification test and the ability to use sub-arc welding equipment without difficulty.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment and/or at least 1 year of fabrication experience (preferred).
  • Graduation certificate from an accredited trade school (preferred).
  • American Welding Society (AWS) welding certification (preferred).
