About the role

The Assistant Regional Forester is responsible for overseeing forestry programs within an assigned region of the state, including contract monitoring. They provide professional advice to forestry personnel, industrial organizations, and residents of the state. They may serve as field authority in the scientific discipline of forestry and provide professional forestry reviews, planning, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements forestry programs within an assigned region of the state.
  • Monitors contracts and ensures compliance with forestry standards.
  • Provides professional advice to forestry personnel, industrial organizations, and residents of the state.
  • Serves as field authority in the scientific discipline of forestry.
  • Provides professional forestry reviews, planning, and recommendations for forestry programs within an assigned region or central office.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Urban Forest Management, Silviculture, Forest Biometrics, or other closely related Forestry curriculum.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in Silvicultural, Forest Management, and/or Reforestation Work. A Master's degree in Forestry may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
  • Note: Appointee may be required to possess a valid New Jersey Certified Pesticide Applicator's Permit.

Qualifications

  • Valid New Jersey Driver's License.
  • May require Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and applicable endorsements.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of forestry practices and silviculture.
  • Ability to provide professional advice and guidance to various stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using forestry-related software and tools.

$65,036.01 - $92,158.59
