About the role

We are Good Samaritan Health Care Center, specializing in skilled nursing and long-term care services. We are seeking a caring and compassionate Speech Therapist to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats residents and patients with temporary or long-term speech, hearing, swallowing and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Plans and administers medically prescribed speech therapy treatment for patients with speech, language, and swallowing problems.
  • Evaluates speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors.
  • Reviews referral, physician’s orders, patient's condition, and medical records to determine speech therapy treatment indicated.
  • Accepts physician orders regarding speech therapy services.
  • Performs initial patient evaluation before initiating therapy.
  • Performs and documents OASIS assessments at appropriate time points.
  • Plans and prepares written treatment plans based on evaluation of patient data in conjunction with the physician, patient, and caregiver(s).
  • Plan direct or conduct rehabilitative treatment plans to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with communication problems of organic and non-organic etiology.
  • Other duties as requested.

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited school of speech pathology and language disorders.
  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist by the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology or the Accrediting Body.
