Speech Therapist

Position Overview

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) delivers high-quality rehabilitative care focused on evaluating and treating residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. This role centers on implementing individualized treatment plans that support functional communication, safe swallowing, and improved quality of life. The SLP collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure consistent, resident-centered therapy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate residents’ speech, language, cognitive communication, and swallowing function.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and resident goals.
• Provide therapeutic interventions targeting speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive communication, and dysphagia disorders.
• Educate residents, families, and caregivers on communication strategies and safe swallowing techniques to support carryover and safety.
• Monitor resident progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment that encourages resident participation and comfort.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning discussions to ensure coordinated, resident-centered care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
• Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred; Clinical Fellowship (CF) candidates may be considered
• 2+ years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric care setting preferred
• Familiarity with Medicare, PDPM, and SNF documentation standards strongly preferred
