What You’ll Do
As a Speech Therapist at NPFE, you will play a critical role in supporting students with communication disorders by:
- Assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders.
- Working closely with teachers, school leaders, families, and other support staff to develop and implement effective therapy plans that ensure students can fully access their educational experience.
- Serving as a key part of our Special Education team and helping ensure that all NPFE students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
- Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) License.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
- Knowledge of IDEA and Michigan special education regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students.
- Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals based on evaluation results.
- Provide direct therapy services to students with speech and language disorders.
- Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to support students’ communication needs in the classroom.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and documentation as required by law and school policy.
- Provide consultation and training to staff and families on communication strategies.
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education in speech-language pathology.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services.
