Job Description

The position is responsible for the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders of functional or neurological origin. It involves:

• Completing comprehensive evaluations with physician referrals
• Accurately interpreting evaluation findings
• Developing a written plan of care and treatment goals
• Implementing a speech/language pathology treatment program
• Re-assessing patient status and adjusting treatment plans as needed
• Communicating with patients, families, and professional colleagues
• Managing time effectively
• Presenting relevant topics in professional settings
• Documenting appropriately in the medical record
• Maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors
• Adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and procedures
• Maintaining professional growth through education and competency
• Serving as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited university-based program
• Current license to practice speech/language pathology by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for Texas
• Current certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, preferred
• Current certification in Basic Life Support

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

• Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, ability to receive and communicate verbal and written information
• Ability to monitor instruments, computers, and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors, and observe physical characteristics
