About the role
The Speech Language Pathologist - Clinical Fellowship (SLP-CFY) position is housed within Select Specialty Hospital - Orlando Central. Our acute rehabilitation unit focuses on providing exceptional and compassionate care to individuals with various medical conditions such as brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans in accordance with patient needs and physician direction.
- Delegates and directs all discipline-specific therapy services for assigned patients.
- Serves as an educator for patients, families, students, coworkers, and self, ensuring effective return to community activities.
- Performs other professional duties associated with patient care and discipline-specific therapy services.
- Demonstrates flexibility in caseload management, managing individual, concurrent, co-treatment, and group treatment sessions based on patient care needs.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to address all barriers to discharge, including timely equipment trialing and patient/family training.
- Completes medical record documentation in a clear, concise, accurate, and timely manner, including daily documentation, goal writing, functional quality indicator assessments, letters of medical necessity, discharge documentation, and charge entry.
- Ensures care is provided under signed, valid physician orders and within insurance approval, as indicated and necessary for clinical care of the patient.
- Creates an individualized professional development plan with clinical management and actively pursues professional growth through continuing education, self-study, and involvement in professional activities and organizations.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid Provisional/Conditional License with a practicing state and a valid mentorship plan submitted.
- Must meet all ASHA and state licensure eligibility standards for CFY requirements during the supervised professional experience period.
- Must complete the required hours of direct and indirect supervision and adhere to ASHA and state specific policies and procedures.
- Certified BLS or completion in the first 90 days of employment required.
