About the Role
To provide speech therapy services to patients of all ages. The role requires consultation, education, and administration of care, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to improve speech, language, voice, oropharyngeal swallow, and cognitive-communication functioning.
Responsibilities
- Accurately assesses and plans treatment goals, providing therapeutic interventions to enhance patient outcomes.
- Affirms the unique needs of the patient, adhering to ethical standards and relevant laws.
- Performs speech therapy evaluations, establishes treatment programs, and adjusts treatments based on patient progress.
- Communicates with physicians, other healthcare providers, and third-party payers as needed.
- Trains patients and their significant others on treatment interventions and diagnoses.
- Rotates through various patient treatment areas as required, following safety guidelines.
- May perform duties outside the hospital setting (e.g., facilities or private homes).
- Participates in quality improvement processes as appropriate.
- Assumes additional duties as assigned.
- Delegates and supervises supportive personnel and volunteers.
Qualifications
- Masters degree in Speech Pathology, accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Previous work experience as a speech therapist is required for pool therapists.
- If working off-site, must have the ability to drive in adverse weather conditions.
Requirements
- Current Pennsylvania license in Speech/Language Pathology.
- Certified in CPR/BLS.
- Current CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology by ASHA).
- Valid drivers' license and auto insurance if working off-site.
