Speech Pathologist

Responsibilities

• Provide treatment of patients according to accepted standards of clinical practice and applicable insurance guidelines.
• Evaluate patients using accepted standard of clinical practice and assessment batteries appropriate to the patient’s diagnosis are administered.
• Writes comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, voice and/or swallowing report that are sent to the referring physician.
• Completes daily notes and progress reports in a timely manner.
• Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Actively participates in the process of patient, family and staff education/counseling.
• Treats individuals with Parkinson’s disease with modification of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program or Speak Out! Program.
• Completes additional therapies including speech, language, cognitive linguistics, dysphagia and voice.
• Attends clinical rounds, departmental meetings, and care plan meetings and reports patient status and progress in accordance with facility standards.
• Maintains annual continuing education requirements for clinical practice.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with a major in speech-language pathology.
• Holds a certificate of clinical competence and licensure granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
• Required field of expertise in Neurological Rehabilitation; preferred expertise in Geriatric Rehabilitation.
• A Health and Wellness Certification is preferred.
• Must be competent in creating hand and wrist splints.
• Must be able to recommend and educate in the use of adaptive equipment for facilitation of activities in daily living.
• CPR Certification is preferred.
• A Minimum Of 3 Years' Experience Is Preferred.
