Responsibilities
- Provide treatment of patients according to accepted standards of clinical practice and applicable insurance guidelines.
- Evaluate patients using accepted standard of clinical practice and assessment batteries appropriate to the patient’s diagnosis are administered.
- Writes comprehensive speech, language, cognitive, voice and/or swallowing report that are sent to the referring physician.
- Completes daily notes and progress reports in a timely manner.
- Functions as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Actively participates in the process of patient, family and staff education/counseling.
- Treats individuals with Parkinson’s disease with modification of Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program or Speak Out! Program.
- Completes additional therapies including speech, language, cognitive linguistics, dysphagia and voice.
- Attends clinical rounds, departmental meetings, and care plan meetings and reports patient status and progress in accordance with facility standards.
- Maintains annual continuing education requirements for clinical practice.
Qualifications
- Master's degree with a major in speech-language pathology.
- Holds a certificate of clinical competence and licensure granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association.
- Required field of expertise in Neurological Rehabilitation; preferred expertise in Geriatric Rehabilitation.
- A Health and Wellness Certification is preferred.
- Must be competent in creating hand and wrist splints.
- Must be able to recommend and educate in the use of adaptive equipment for facilitation of activities in daily living.
- CPR Certification is preferred.
- A Minimum Of 3 Years' Experience Is Preferred.
