Speech Pathologist

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for a Speech Language Pathologist to work in a state hospital located in Terrell, TX.

About the role

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for delivering quality care to patients by assessing, diagnosing, treating, and helping to prevent communication and swallowing disorders. You will work with patients to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow to prevent choking, under the supervision of the Clinical Director.

Responsibilities

• Perform swallowing assessments, including accurate history taking, examination, direct patient observation, and collaboration with the treatment team/attending physician to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Conduct periodic re-evaluations of patients as necessary and adjust treatment plans in accordance with physician goals and orders.
• Document patient medical records clearly and concisely, identifying target symptoms with appropriate frequency based on the level of care required.
• Address referrals to internal departments and outside providers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with HHSC and facility documentation timeframe requirements.
• Provide and monitor facility Standard Operating Procedures to meet accreditation standards, including Joint Commission guidelines, CMS Standards, TSH Policy and Directives, and facility Standards, Rules, and Directives.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Current and unrestricted Texas state license to practice Speech Language Pathology through TDLR.
• Certified by the American Heart Association in BLS/CPR; certification must remain current while providing services.
• Knowledge of and compliance with all HIPAA regulations; maintains strict client confidentiality.
• Willingness to work at Terrell State Hospital, a mental health facility with patients who may have a dual diagnosis.
• Adherence to the rules, regulations, and policies of HHSC and Terrell State Hospital.
• Compliance with staffing agency and TSH’s attendance and leave policy.
• Compliance with HHSC immunization requirements.
• Negative COVID-19 test result required.
• COVID-19 Vaccination Card, if applicable.
• Must pass HHSC-required drug test, fingerprinting, and background check.
• Completion of facility and HHSC-required training.

Pay

$35/hour

Schedule

Monday – Wednesday – Friday (flexible days) | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Part-Time Position
