About the role
A licensed Speech/Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients with cognitive, communication, and swallowing deficits.
Responsibilities
- Conducts assessments, develops and implements individualized treatment plans, and monitors patient progress.
- Collaborates with healthcare team, supervises Therapy Technicians, Clinical Fellows, and students.
- Recognizes additional needs, makes referrals, and ensures patient safety.
- Applies research-based and innovative treatment methods, including group sessions and specialized therapies.
- Assesses diverse patient cases, including vent-dependent and voice/fluency issues, with minimal assistance.
- Reassesses regularly and adjusts treatment as needed to facilitate recovery and reduce length of stay.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
- State licensure as a Speech/Language Pathologist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills
- Demonstrates good judgment and strong observational skills.
- Ability to apply reasoning and work independently.
- Knowledge of speaking valve use and contraindications.
- Able to deliver effective therapy and seek continuous improvement.
