About the role

A licensed Speech/Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients with cognitive, communication, and swallowing deficits.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessments, develops and implements individualized treatment plans, and monitors patient progress.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team, supervises Therapy Technicians, Clinical Fellows, and students.
  • Recognizes additional needs, makes referrals, and ensures patient safety.
  • Applies research-based and innovative treatment methods, including group sessions and specialized therapies.
  • Assesses diverse patient cases, including vent-dependent and voice/fluency issues, with minimal assistance.
  • Reassesses regularly and adjusts treatment as needed to facilitate recovery and reduce length of stay.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • State licensure as a Speech/Language Pathologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Skills

  • Demonstrates good judgment and strong observational skills.
  • Ability to apply reasoning and work independently.
  • Knowledge of speaking valve use and contraindications.
  • Able to deliver effective therapy and seek continuous improvement.
