Speech & Language Pathologist (Temporary - Buncombe)
About the role
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
Responsibilities
- Deliver SLP services both in-person and virtually
- Evaluate patient response and progress and to present evaluative reports in case staffings and multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Exposure to an agency's culture, process, procedures, and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state
- Travel throughout a 4-county area (Buncombe, Madison, Henderson and Transylvania) as needed - Travel reimbursement or state vehicle provided
Requirements
- Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist
- Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology and 2 years of experience as a Speech/Language Pathologist
- Preferred: Certification of Clinical Competence by the American Speech Language Hearing Association

- Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to area of specialization

- Present ideas clearly and effectively in written form and adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience
- Use correct grammar, organization, and structure

Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Schedule
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.
Pay
Hourly Rate of Pay: $42.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
