Speech Language Pathologist-PRN
About the role
The Speech Language Pathologist will provide comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. This position requires a minimum of three years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders.
- Teach and provide guidance to nursing, and support staff.
- Teach and provide guidance to clinical fellows and nursing in teaching best practices.
- Collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team to modify patient’s treatment plan, progress, and discharge planning.
- Evaluate patients regularly, monitor progress towards treatment goals, and adjust goals and plan as needed.
- Provide oversight of speech-related activities completed by the interprofessional health care team.
- Identify and present areas for innovation, efficiency, and improvement in patient care or unit operations using evidence-based practice literature.
Requirements
- Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section.
- SLP - Speech Language Pathologist - State Licensure - Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation_PSV Compact license acceptable according to the Board requirements within 90 days.
- ASHA-CCC-SLP - AHSA-Certified Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA) - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association.
Qualifications
- Three years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Exhibits strong interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assures delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
Ability to function independently, capable of handling challenging/difficult therapy procedures and patient care situations.
Demonstrates sound judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team and patients and their families.
Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
Demonstrates professional and technical competence in the selection, evaluation, utilization of treatment plans for increasingly complex patient populations.
