About the role

The successful Speech Language Pathologist believes that ALL students are capable of success. As a member of a Special Education team that approaches instruction with patience, creativity, and a growth mindset, you will assist the staff to integrate linguistic skills into their service delivery and help students to be skillful communicators.

Responsibilities

  • Support with the implementation of direct speech and language services to identified students with disabilities who meet the eligibility criteria established by federal and state law
  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations and analyze standardized and qualitative data to determine student eligibility for services in accordance with state and federal criteria
  • Manage the selection, implementation, and collaborative support of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems to ensure students have functional communication access across all environments
  • Create lesson plans and materials to support students with speech and language needs in classrooms and in direct speech and language therapy
  • Consult with general education teachers to ensure consistent implementation of IEPs and speech and language goals across all school environments
  • Provide professional development sessions to school site teams that will support staff with learning more about speech and language services
  • Provide legally defensible implementation of services, supports, accommodations, and modifications as provided by students’ IEPs
  • Collect data on and monitor individual student performance, adjusting instruction and supports as necessary to ensure progress toward IEP goals
  • Maintain timelines, interact with parents and other staff, and complete all paperwork, forms and reports

Requirements

  • A Masters Degree
  • A valid California Speech Language Pathology Services Credential or Clinical Rehabilitation Credential or a California Speech Language Pathology License
  • A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities

Qualifications

  • Experience with culturally responsive instructional strategies
  • Ability to accommodate individual learning differences

Skills

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Knowledge of AAC systems
  • Proficiency in creating lesson plans and materials

Pay

Starting salary is $87,776 and goes up based on years of experience.
