Position Summary

The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach one or more credit hours as determined by the department; areas of teaching include undergraduate and graduate courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more credit hours as determined by the Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Be available for consultation with students outside of classes either in-person or remotely.
  • Conduct student assessments as prescribed by the curriculum and adhere to policies and procedures regarding students and faculty as established by the University and Department.
  • Participate in the effective evaluation of individual students, individual courses, and - as needed - programmatic assessment.
  • Teach class content based on the syllabus and follow any department guidelines.
  • Follow university policies on student evaluation and participate in peer reviews.
  • Teach in various formats—face-to-face, online, or a mix—depending on course needs.
  • Show flexibility and willingness to learn new teaching methods.
  • Show sensitivity to the educational needs of a diverse student body.

Required Qualifications

  • Entry-level clinical degrees for speech-language pathology or audiology.
  • Certification from the American Speech, Language, Hearing Association, or similar professional credential.
  • Research doctorate in audiology, speech-language pathology, or related discipline.
  • Prior experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in the discipline.
  • Prior experience teaching courses using the Canvas learning system.
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student populations including (but not limited to) students of color, LGBTQIA+ students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans and English language learners.
