Responsibilities
- Coach speech and debate after school on a regular basis
- Take, supervise, and coach students at speech and debate competitions
- Judge and provide judges at local and national tournaments
- Work with the Director of Student Affairs to ensure all school policies and procedures are followed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required; master’s degree is preferred
- Either extensive high speech & debate experience is required, or previous high school coaching experience is necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills and great customer service skills that will create an exciting activities program and promote student leadership
- Ability to work effectively with students and faculty/staff
- Excellent written, verbal and public speaking skills
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capacity
- Strong ethical values
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong public speaking skills and the ability to motivate students in this area
- Good organizational skills
Physical and Work Requirements
- Position will require after school time and some evening/weekend hours
- Frequent use both hands and fingers (i.e. typing)
- Frequent extended periods of sitting
- Occasional periods of standing, kneeling and climbing
- Occasional ability of minimal hearing (i.e. loud noises, sirens) and routine hearing (i.e. listening to others in conversation)
- Occasional time spent working closely with others
