COMPENSATION: Starting at $17.49 an hour REPORTS TO: Building Principal HOURS: 25 Hours a Week, Mon-Thurs (some Fridays) CLASSIFICATION: Hourly TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 1/2 Month FUNCTION The Assistant Manager aides the instructor in all areas of program delivery, both management and instructional, and has primary responsibility for a variety of daily operations. Qualifications Food handler's card preferred. Previous experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of duties associated with a "fast food" facility. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision; adapt to varying assignments and tasks in the instructional setting. Facility with organizational details and basic mathematical operations required in routine fiscal operations. Ability to train and supervise students and student aides. Sound health; clean, neat appearance; ability to relate cordially with others. Working knowledge of basic health, safety, and first aid procedures. Ability to work variable hours as necessary on occasion. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. General Responsibilities Monitor inventory of food and supply items. Order, receive and stock goods. Prepare food according to uniform recipes. Supervise students in food preparation, handling and serving. Monitor the safe and efficient use of equipment, as well as daily storage and cleaning processes. Assist with tasks as necessary. Assist, as directed, with delivery of instruction, including presenting lessons, grading papers, charting work assignments, monitoring student discipline, behavior and performance skills. Manage daily bookkeeping and financial accounting. Perform other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Bending, squatting, turning, reaching, climbing, as in cleaning surfaces, preparing/mixing large quantities of food; accessing storage areas, and maneuvering supplies, food items, kitchen equipment and utensils. Lifting, placing, maneuvering loads up to 50 lbs., as in accessing, storing, rotating, serving goods. Standing/working for extended periods of time, as in food preparation, counter service, and general supervision. Working efficiently in warm, humid conditions common to commercial kitchens.
