About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Gatos, CA Details In-Person Tutoring in Los Gatos, CASchedule: 25 hours per month, 1.5 hours per session, 3 days a week Pay range is between $25 and $35 Ideal Candidate Experience tutoring elementary-age students in reading, writing, and mathExperience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferredStrong background in reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, and foundational literacyComfortable teaching foundational and elementary-level math concepts, including multi-digit addition, subtraction with borrowing, multiplication, and math factsAble to teach strategies for understanding and solving math word problemsStrong writing skills and experience supporting sentence development, grammar, spelling, and written expressionComfortable helping students expand verbal responses and communicate their ideas with greater confidencePatient, warm, and encouraging with a strong ability to build rapportBubbly, engaging, and able to make lessons fun and interactiveSkilled at breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable stepsComfortable using repetition, modeling, visual supports, and guided practiceAble to use positive reinforcement and motivating activities to encourage participationComfortable providing or developing appropriate curriculum materials for tutoring sessions Key Responsibilities Provide individualized academic support across reading, writing, math, and language developmentImprove reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension through guided and leveled reading activitiesTeach strategies for identifying key information, answering comprehension questions, and understanding unfamiliar wordsReinforce phonics, decoding, spelling rules, word recognition, and vocabulary developmentSupport writing through sentence development, spelling, grammar, conventions, and organization of ideasEncourage the student to expand verbal responses and communicate ideas using complete and detailed responsesProvide math instruction focused on four-digit addition, subtraction with borrowing, multiplication concepts, multiplication facts, and foundational math skillsTeach strategies for understanding math word problems, identifying relevant information, selecting operations, and applying appropriate skillsUse structured practice and repetition to strengthen retention and build academic confidenceIncorporate games, art activities, coloring, and other hands-on activities to maintain engagementUse positive reinforcement such as verbal praise, stickers, and small rewards when appropriateAdjust instruction based on the student's current academic level, progress, and learning needsProvide curriculum materials and lesson activities appropriate for the student's instructional levelMonitor progress and provide consistent encouragement to build confidence and independence Why Tutor Me Education?
