SPED Teacher/ Moderate Needs (K-2)

About the role

Help each student learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, capable, and responsible adults. Provide a positive, healthy, and safe environment in which students can achieve their maximum potential. Meet and instruct assigned classes in designated locations and at scheduled times.

Responsibilities

• Create an engaging classroom environment favorable to student learning and personal growth.
• Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for college and career readiness.
• Communicate clearly in verbal and written formats with students, parents, and teammates.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to meet student needs.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instructional time.
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing protocol.
• Lift and move up to 30 pounds as required.

Requirements

• Possess or be eligible to receive a Colorado Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement (must be held within 30 days of start date).
• Meet "in-field" status by being endorsed in the content area, having passed the currently-accepted Praxis exam(s) in the content area, and/or having 24 semester credits in the content area as identified by the Colorado Department of Education.
• Transcripts required (redacted copies may be submitted initially; un-redacted copies required if an employment offer is extended).
• Criminal background check and district fingerprinting required.
